This is a small beach resort approximately 132 kms from Calcutta. Its charms are the casaurina trees, the rocky seashore, the relatively unspoilt atmosphere and reasonable prices.

By Bus: A three hour bus journey from Calcutta to Namkhana, a ferry across the river Hatania Doania, followed by another 1 1/2 hour bus journey to Bakkhali. CSTC buses ply between Calcutta and Namkhana, completing the journey in approximately 5 hours.

By train: Train service from Sealdah station.
