Bengal Voluntary Health Association
West Bengal Voluntary Health Association (WBVHA), established in 1974,
is a state level health agency providing support service for the promotion
of primary health and community health on West Bengal and neighbouring
states. WBVHA maintains close ties with UNICEF and other national
and international organizations and is associated with more than 250
NGOs engaged in health care.
WBVHA functions:
WBVHA supports and monitors 25 NGOs work on community health.
WBVHA supports and monitors 9 NGOs work on Reproductive Health.
WBVHA works with 50 schools in School Health Promotion.
The primary objectives of WBVHA are to promote community health, social justice
and human rights related to the provision and distribution of health
services in West Bengal. It stimulates a large section of people towards
a scientific attitude to health, without ignoring West Bengal’s natural
traditions and resources.
WBVHA is
Non Political State level NGO for health promotion More than 50 NGOs
are getting help in their community based health programme WBVHA is
well known for its health promotion work at the community level /
NGO level. WBVHA served as a member of the SCOVA Committee in the
Dept. of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal. WBVHA
presently acts as a Nodal Agency of Ministry of Health & Family
Welfare, Govt. of India to help NGO on RCH activities.
WBVHAcelebrated it silver jubilee in July 1999 and would be completing
25 years of service to the people in health promotion. If you want
