Asian Paints - Making quality paints for generations
With an annual turnover touching Rs 3,50,000, Asian Paints
is undoubtedly the leading manufacturer of paints in India.
The company was the joint effort of a group of men consisting of
Champaklal N Choksey, Chimanlal H. Choksi, Suryakant C. Dani and
Arvind R. Vakil who got together in February, 1942 to set up a paint
company in a garage on Foras Road, Mumbai and named their company
the Asian Oil & Paint Company, a name which had been decided
randomly after going through the telephone directory.
The Asian Paints mascot, Gattu, the mischievous kid has
had a lasting impression on the minds of the Indian consumer. Asian
Paints emerged as India's leading paint company ahead of any international
competition. Initially a family owned company it slowly changed
into a professionally managed company.
Despite having major international companies such as Balmer
Lawrie as clients, the company does not neglect the grassroots.
It reaches out to the consumers in the remotest corners of the country.
According to Suresh Pujari, sales promoter, Asian Paints,
"Our retail and industrial segment teams have an extensive direct
dealer network which enables us to satisfy all sectors. It is the
quality of our products that has enabled us to capture the market."
Asian Paints is one of the most admired companies
in India today with a mindboggling product range with paints for
everything . It manufactures some of the most high performance long
lasting emulsions. Making the task of doing up interiors easy, Asian
Paints offers the Colour World shade palette designed
