The Calcutta Medical Research Institute was built under the pat ronage
of industrialist Braj Mohan Birla. The project was conceived and implemented
by Mrs. Rukmani Devi Birla. The CMRI has 400 beds for inpatients,
with a choice of centrally air conditioned rooms, twin sharing rooms,
AC & non-AC wards, to name a few. Also inside the hospital are
a well-stocked chemists shop, a cafeteria, an ambulance service, and
round the clock STD/ISD/PCO. The CMRI hosts a variety of professional
services in the field of medicine which include an Operation Theatre
with most advance equipments, an Intensive Care Unit providing advanced
medical treatment of the critically ill. Department of Neurology/Neuro
Surgery. Department of Paediatrics. Department of Gastroentrology
and the Department of Laproscopy.
