Coffee time in Kolkata

The city of bhadraloks and rasagullas is fast emerging as a hip hoppers' paradise. Catering to this crowd is AQUA JAVA -- and if its popularity is any indication, more such places have to open up soon in the city!

Situated in the heart of the city (at the Elgin Road and Harish Mukherjee Road intersection in South Calcutta) the rather bland exterior gives way inside to a trendy but relaxed atmosphere, filled with people, delicious aromas, futuristic furniture, soft western music, dim lighting and a well-presented coffee counter area.
The ground floor seats about two dozen, while the top floor can accommodate another a dozen or so. During peak hours (8 p.m. - 11.30 pm) Aqua Java, with its small disc and pool table, can be pretty noisy and smoky.
At the moment, the disc is absolutely free. (Good news for school kids!)
The menu offers a wide range of coffees (about 26 types), fancy foods and an assortment of desserts ranging from cookies, chocolate mousse to sundaes. Snacks and light meals are Italian, Mexican or Thai, with do-it-yourself Pasta and Pizzas being the crowd favourites.
And the coffee, thankfully, is fairly authentic. International Espresso and other vareties are made from 100% imported beans.
Address - Sambhunath Pandit Street , Phone : 455 8501-4.
