KSIC was established in the year
1980 as a government of Karnataka enterprise, to develop silk industries
in Karnataka. In a span of twenty years it has achieved a benchmark
in pure silks.
They excel in designing Mysore silk sarees, which are famous for their
heavy zari border and pallu. Every saree is given its embroidered
code number to protect its identity. They have hundreds of varieties
of colors and thousands of designs to meet the tastes of national
and international buyers.Raw silks are manufactured at their four
centres, Mysore, T.Narasipura, Kanakapura & Channapatna. They
market their products through inter-state government organisations,
institutional buyers and authorised dealers.
Some of the institutional buyers are Air India, Indian Airlines, ITDC
group of hotels, Taj hotels, etc.
