Carnival for theatre lovers

The people of Salt Lake are looking forward to the next cultural event (after KFF) - a carnival organized by Salt Lake Theatre.

Come 10 December and a week-long carnival is in the offing as the 10th Drama Festival kicks off at Laban Hrad Mancha in BD Block. "The people of Salt Lake and adjacent areas eagerly look forward to this most prestigious and high quality carnival. Possibly, no other festival is organized on such a massive scale in the city," said Hirak Suvra Chattopadhyay, president of Salt lake Theatre.

The festival is designed for ardent theatre lovers who care to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Bengali theatre. This year's festival aims at exposing the audience to a number of classy performances by some distinguished front-runners, theatre groups led by Rudraprasad Sengupta, Monoj Mitra, Swatilekha Sengupta, Megnadh Bhattacharya, Usha Ganguly, Deb Shankar Halder and others. Salt Lake Theatre's own production, Hippolytus, will also be staged.
